Fourth Graders Are Earning Their Belts in Recorder Karate

As part of the 4th grade music curriculum students learn to play the soprano recorder. At Holly Grove we do a program called "Recorder Karate" where students earn their recorder karate belts by playing a song individually for Ms. Morel. If they play with very few mistakes they get a colorful “belt” for their recorder and get to sign their name to a poster outside the music room. You can stop by the music room to see how many students become recorder masters by earning all 9 belts and getting to the most advanced level – black belt! Come to the Recorder Showcase to hear some of the songs the 4th grade students have been working on in class!

4th Grade Recorder Showcase:

May 12, 6:30pm - 4th Grade Recorder Showcase (Tr 2&4)

May 19, 6:30pm - 4th Grade Recorder Showcase at Open Forum PTA Meeting (Tr 1&3)

Both performances will be in the multipurpose room. Refreshments are generously being provided by the PTA!
