A Day In The Life

Last week Mrs. A Clark's class concluded their Science Unit on Organisms. During this time they studied the habitats of freshwater plants and animals, as well as woodland plants and animals. As a class they discussed all of the essential vocabulary for all of the animals and plants. Then students pretended to be that animal by writing a diary entry about what it would be like to that animal. They included essential vocabulary and interesting facts! When they were finished with their writing, they created a Chatterpix of themselves as the animal. The students all worked very hard and were so excited to see the finished project! :)

We want to make sure all qualified families are enrolled for free and reduced-price meals. The application for meal benefits must be completed annually. If your family qualifies and you have not completed an application for the 2015-16 school year, we ask that you complete an application now.
For families who qualified for the 2014-15 school year, we have continued to provide school lunches for students this school year. On October 7th any student without an approved application for 2015-16 will be expected to pay full price for breakfast and lunch.  
Application forms are available at all school sites. You can get information on the Meal Benefits Program online at or talk with your school. You can reapply at any time throughout the school year.

4th Grade Homework Excuses

Ms. Tingelstad's 4th grade students read the book The Greatest Homework Excuse Book Ever.  A book written and illustrated by 4th grade students from Sycolin Creek  Elementary School in Leesburg, VA.  Mrs. T's students then got creative and brainstormed their own original homework excuses and used the iPad app PixNTell to create a short movie.  Check out some of their excuses below.

Science becomes Edible

To further their investigations of woodland habitats, Mrs. Harris' 1st grade class got their hands dirty by creating an edible woodland. The students used their observations of woodland plants to help them turn everyday snack items into sand, soil, seeds, and moss.

Laps for Holly Grove

Laps for Holly Grove is fast approaching and we are in need of volunteers to help make this an awesome day for our students.

Laps for Holly Grove Tracks 1 & 3 is scheduled for Friday, October 9th from 9:30-3:30pm

Tracks 2 & 4 is scheduled for Friday, October 30th from 9:30-3:30pm

When signing up please be sure you are signing up on the correct date.

Volunteers you will receive your assignment the week of the event. Please be on the lookout for the sign up for lunch. Will be offering 2 slices of pizza (cheese or pepperoni) drink and dessert for $5.00.
