Volunteers Needed for Career Day!

Calling Volunteers! - Career Awareness Presentations at Holly Grove
The school counseling team is working with 4th and 5th grade teachers to help develop early career awareness in our students. We need enthusiastic and energetic parent and community volunteers who are willing to present information about their careers and help our students make a connection between their learning today and their career path of tomorrow.
Presentations can include PowerPoint presentations, visuals, demonstrations, or the use of other hands on materials. Presentations will last 15-20 minutes and be presented 4 times so each participating class can get the information.
We need presenters who are available at one or multiple of the following dates/times:
Tuesday, January 12th from 11AM – 1PM (4th Grade)
Friday, January 15th from 9:15 – 11:15AM (5th Grade)
Thursday, February 11th from 11AM – 1PM (4th Grade)
Friday, February 12th from 9:15 – 11:15AM (5th Grade)
Please sign up through this Career Presenter link.  After doing so, you will be contacted by one of the counselors to discuss details. You can also contact one of the school counselors, Mike Przybowski (mprzybowski@wcpss.net)  or Laura Bodek (lbodek@wcpss.net)  if interested or for more information. You may also call us at 919-577-1700.

Holly Grove Recognized as Exemplar School for PBIS

State Recognizes Wake County Schools for Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports

The NC Department of Public Instruction recently honored select Wake County schools for implementation of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS). PBIS strives to build favorable school climate and increase academic learning time. PBIS is a nationally recognized research-based best practice designated by the U.S. Department of Education as one of the “Ideas that Work”. A responsibility of school-based PBIS Teams is to empower adults within a school with the skills needed to improve overall classroom and school climate to achieve higher academic performance for all students. Implementation is supported by Intervention Services/Student Support Services.
