Third Grade Book Clubs

Our Third Grade class was placed into five different reading groups. After intense activities and group discussions, students were paired up with another book club to compare and contrast all aspects of their texts! You should have heard the discussions!

Pumpkin Diagrams

Ms. West's kindergarten students are learning about the text features of non-fiction. Recently they began exploring how authors use these features to further support readers' understanding of a topic.  They learned that authors will use diagrams to show what the inside of something looks like.  The students then created their own diagram of the inside of a pumpkin as well as an example of what the inside of a real pumpkin would look like.  (They used hair gel to give it that "slimy" look).  =)

Turkeys in Disguise

Kindergarten students recently disguised some turkeys to save them from becoming Thanksgiving dinner.  The students were very creative in their designs and stories about how their turkey managed to escape.
