Pumpkin Diagrams

Ms. West's kindergarten students are learning about the text features of non-fiction. Recently they began exploring how authors use these features to further support readers' understanding of a topic.  They learned that authors will use diagrams to show what the inside of something looks like.  The students then created their own diagram of the inside of a pumpkin as well as an example of what the inside of a real pumpkin would look like.  (They used hair gel to give it that "slimy" look).  =)
