Shape Gallery

On Friday, January 29 First Graders from Mrs. Woodruff's and Ms. Clark's classes had a culminating activity and celebration as their math unit on 2 and 3 dimensional shapes came to an end.  They have been working on identifying defining and non-defining attributes and created 3-D Animals, graphed their results, and shared them with the class.  Parents and administration were invited to their shape gallery which was followed by a 3-D geome-"tree" craft and a special snack consisting of all the shapes they had studied.  This was a hands-on and engaging activity that allowed the students to make a real life connection to the content taught in class.  Learning can truly come in any way, shape, or form!

Second Grade Math Enrichment- Candy Box Arrays!

Our second grade math enrichment group worked hard to manipulate 12 and 16 "candies" to make as many candy box arrays as they could. How many candy boxes will they create with 18 candies?!

Kindergarten Enrichment- Tangram Challenge!

Our Kindergarten enrichment group worked together to create a given picture using all 7 of their tangrams (and learned a few new geometric terms along the way). A few persevered when "the going got tough" and were so proud of themselves when they completed each challenge! Way to go!

Analyzing themes in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe

Ms. Schaefer's 5th grade Language Arts classes just completed a book study for The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by CS Lewis. The students met for Literature Circle group discussions for three weeks.  Then they extended their knowledge of the book by analyzing one theme, putting the information on Google Slides. This allowed students to analyze the book’s theme by finding symbols, understanding the organization, quoting evidence, understanding the point of view, and making connections.
