Middle School Electives for Rising 6th Graders
As we prepare our 5th graders to leave HGES and move on to middle school, they will have the opportunity to choose elective courses for the upcoming year. This process will be done completely online through Powerschool this year and aided by guidance from their teachers and counselors in selecting the appropriate electives. Please see the form that was sent home recently for more information.
As we prepare for this process, we strongly encourage all parents to visit the following site:
The site has specific information about the electives offered by their upcoming middle school. Students will choose from the electives listed there when the school counselors guide them through Powerschool elective registration process while at school. Please review the information with your child to support them in making the right choices in electives. Counselors will begin meeting with students and registering them for electives the week of March 14th, starting with Track 4. Once the courses are selected in Powerschool, a verification form will be sent home for a final signature.
Please contact Mr. Przybowski or Mrs. Bodek, the school counselors, with any questions.
Rising 6th Grade Language Arts and Math
You will notice GREEN Middle School Registration Cards for all 5th graders will begin coming home during the week of March 14th. Your child's teacher used various data sources to make recommendations for their 6th grade math and language arts course placements. If you disagree with the recommended placement, you can request a waiver for higher/lower placement. Waivers can be obtained by contacting your child's teacher or the school counselors, Mr. Przybowski or Mrs. Bodek. Once the waiver is completed and returned, it will be reviewed by Mrs. Knezevic.
All GREEN forms should be returned by March 24th for Tracks 2, 3 & 4 and April 5th for Track 1.
More information about math placement and course progression can be found at http://wake-ms-math.weebly.com/.
Any questions can be directed to Mr. Przybowski or Mrs. Bodek, the school counselors.
